In order to learn more about facilitating and inspiring student learning and creativity I have spent quite a bit of time on Google searching a variety of different topics. Some of the websites that I found are below:
These websites and the other ones I found provide a wide variety of ways to inspire creativity in the classroom. I still need to talk to teachers that inspire creativity. In order to carry out my plan, I plan to continue to research using the Internet to learn about how other teachers inspire student learning and creativity. One of the suggestions that I read about creativity immediately made me think about using VoiceThreads. I plan to continue to look into the idea of using VoiceThreads and compare it to other forms of technology that also inspire creativity.
In order to promote and model digital citizenship and responsibility, I naturally went to the Internet to learn more about being a responsible digital citizen. I found a wonderful resource relating to addressing appropriate technology behavior. It provides strategies for teachers as well as appropriate and inappropriate uses of technology. This resource will become very valuable for me when I begin to teach my students about being a responsible digital citizen. I plan to continue to research this topic for more helpful resources for me to share with my students when I begin teaching my students.
Ashley,
ReplyDeleteGreat information, thanks for sharing the links to great places to learn. I decided to start recording the time I spend on learning to develop digital age learning environments. Now, thanks to you, I am going to start keeping a list of all useful sites I locate. I am using Delicious social bookmarking which I became familiar with in my last Walden class. Do you have a Delicious account? Thinking we could share what we find that way if you are interested.
Ashley,
ReplyDeleteI really liked the blog that you found Facilitating or Inhibiting the Development of Creativity. After reading the two lists of ways that inhibit or facilitate creativity, it made me assess how I teach.
VoiceThreads seems to be one of the greatest inventions in my opinion. I feel that it truely encompasses all learning styles and opens itself up to creativity. There are so many options that students can choose to make each thread unique.

Ashley,
ReplyDeleteFor your first standard of trying to have your students think creatively can I make a suggestion? Go have a talk with your Art teacher. I know my art teacher tries to do things in what we are teaching doing the week. See what he/she is doing and maybe you can get some ideas from him/her.
For your second standard don't forget to model yourself. A lot of students will pick up in what you do during class and they will do exactly what you do. You yourself are a good source.
Ashley,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the links. I have added them to my delicious page. I like how I can organize my web sites and access them from any computer. I have started using Gaggle with my students. They have a link to internet safety lessons that are student friendly and have worksheets that be viewed on line or printed.
Good luck on your GAME plan.
Debbie
Ashley,
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting those sites. I'm always looking for ways to be creative with technology. I'll be looking forward to searching through the sites as well. Maybe there is something your 5th graders and my 5th graders could do something collaboratively.
Kelly, I do not have a Delicious account but I think I am going to open one soon. I think that using it to collaborate with you and other educators is a great idea!
ReplyDeleteRobin, I agree with you that VoiceThreads seem to be a great tool to incorporate into any lesson.
James, thanks for your suggestion about talking to my Art teacher. I think this is an excellent idea and will give me another perspective.
Debbie, what is Gaggle? I have never heard of that before.
Denise, I would love to work with your students on a collaborative project.
Ashley,
ReplyDeleteGaggle is a safe email network for teachers and their students. My school district has the accounts available for us. Make sure you are set up as an administrator so you can properly access your students' accounts. They have training video clips to watch and have links to safety lessons. I started a discussion board with my students. It also has a homework drop box and calendar functions. I have not set up all of the applications yet.

Ashley,
ReplyDeleteI really like the resource you provided about proper technology behavior. I spent some time reading it and I think this is a wonderful for anyone who is a teacher trying to model this appropriate behavior.
Ashley,
ReplyDeleteGreat sites to promote creativity. Another thing you might want to think about is creating movies in class. Windows Moviemaker is one example of an easy to use software and students love being able to make reports, stories, poems etc come to life in a movie. They can even make very simple ones using still pictures and every student that I have done this with has loved the experience.
